Grand opening "Dali - the exhibition"
On February the 5th, three months after HONG Architekten got the commission to design and to supervision the construction of the new Dali exhibition, the doors are open to the public.
“Dali – the exhibition” actually has about 1400sqm GFA, arranged on a ground and first floor. The main entry is accessed by the passage between Leipziger Platz and Erna-Berger Straße. The foyer contains a reception, a shop, a café and facilities. After entering the exhibition, the surreal world of Salvador Dali is picking up the visitors. The prose of a normal day in berlin is left behind. This permanent exhibition is a composition of several privat art collections. By creating a generos sequence of more intimate exhibition spaces, the character of the exhibition finds its architectural expression. Only a few plane walls and two stairs create the architectural intend of this open showroom. This concept defines the rooms and creates an individual character. New perspectives are opening up which are guiding the visitors way thru the exhibition. Two times this exhibition allows the view from the surreal into the real world. Most of the delicate artwork is presented in thematical groups on tinted wall surfaces. Wall washing lights bring an ambient light into the showroom, spotlights direct the focus on the exhibit. The floor and ceiling are dark surfaces while the wall as medium for display is the center of the presentation.
